Living Mindfully With 5 New Goals For Fall
It’s officially fall and I am in heaven. Although, I have a confession, these darker mornings are really making it difficult to get out of bed! I feel like I’ve traveled to Neptune and I’m jet lagged. I’m hitting the snooze button 10 ten times, having a super hard time getting the energy to go to the gym, or write a blog post for that matter and the afternoons have been dragging on.
But you know what? After a week of feeling like a sloth, I need to reevaluate how I am living. I live a busy girlboss life, so there are a few things that I’m going to change, in order to really enjoy this fall!

I have been living in kind of a haze; I’m not taking the time to get fresh air, I’m not thinking about what I eat and I go through my days without truly being present. It’s not that I eat terribly, that I am too busy, or that don’t get out enough – it’s that I am not appreciating or building that relationship with those activities or actions. I simply just do, without thought.
When I wake up in the morning I will think of three things I am thankful for, this has me starting the day with a smile. Anything that goes wrong that morning is no big deal, because I have those three things! Before bed, Brady and I will spend more time in prayer. This clears our minds from the day and really allows us to relax.
Aside from those two things I will also begin journalling more often with old fashion pen and paper, taking my dogs on longer walks, doing more yoga and disconnecting more. I always feel like there is something with work or Cordially K that I need to be doing, but there’s a time and place for everything and that does time and place is not 24/7.

I will start the day by getting up to the alarm at 6 a.m. No more hitting snooze, rushing through my morning, or pushing through the morning traffic. I will take the time to enjoy my morning.
I need to begin winding down an hour before bed; starting with a cup of mint tea, my skincare routine, comfy pajamas, snuggles with my pups, and a good book/magazine. Evenings are really what get me. Between the excitement of seeing my husband and pups, to the screens, shows, and the day’s stresses – it throws me through a loop and just messes with the next day. Adding more of a structured routine will help me rest more soundly and appreciate what surrounds me.

Tell me I’m not the only one who does this; I successfully go through my nightly routine and then the second I say goodnight to my husband or get in bed, I reach for my phone one last time to check instagram and next thing you know, it’s midnight and I can’t sleep! A new goal will be ending my screen time, the second I begin my nightly routine one hour before bedtime. This one will be tough, but I really need to ditch instagram in the evenings for my own sanity.

While you may not believe it from reading this post so far, I am a morning person that works much better in the first half of the day. Getting all of that important and pressing work done, when I am the most motivated, completely changes the trajectory of the second half of my day. Undone work and deadlines keeps me up at night. This little goal allows me to start the next day fresh and without yesterday’s pressures.

Recently I’m all over the place with sleep and so I simply get a coffee whenever I want or need it, which happens to be almost everyday. I’d rather start my day with ice cold water and get rid of my crazy dependency on coffee and caffeine. For this goal, I will need to be consistent with my other goals.
I’d really love to know what you guys are doing to live mindfully, new goals you’re setting for yourself, or what works for you in the comments below!
