Where to begin, we were absolutely in love with Italy from the moment we landed! We landed in Italy during an Italian Sunrise, we were exhausted from the 13 hour flight and honestly ready to sleep, but the view from the plane window was just astounding. Unfortunately, Italy wasn’t our final destination, so we had to make the most of the 48 hours we had before we got on our next plane to Greece!
After getting through security, finding a taxi, and making our way to our sweet little hotel Intorno al Fico, we rolled into bed and rested. Before I go any further, I really need to give a shout out to the incredibly sweet women that worked at this hotel; upon arrival they were so warm and kind, they offered us pasta and places to visit, it felt like we were showing up to a friends home! I was blown away by their hospitality.
Moving on, we started our time with a little beauty rest. I don’t think I’ve ever slept so good in my life, I was beyond exhausted! Finally after a little rest, we walked down the street and enjoyed thee best pizza either of us have ever had in our lives. I’m beginning to crave it now. I don’t even know how to describe it, it was so different from what we have in the states. All I can say is, don’t go to Italy and not eat their pizza, you’d be making a life altering mistake. Haha, I’m not dramatic in the slightest… am I?
After pizza we walked back to the hotel for a glass of wine and relaxed on the rooftop. The rooftop at this hotel was really sweet, you can hear the waves of the ocean and enjoy the salty breeze without anyone around you. Very sweet. After a couple of hours, we finally suited up and headed down to the beach.
For the next couple hours we played with our toes in the sand, jumped in the waves, and just enjoyed the little time we had in Italy. After froliking in the ocean, we walked barefoot to a little restaurant that sat in the sand, Buena Onda. We had a couple coronas (very classy, yes), eggplant and zucchini, pasta, all the good stuff. The hospitality here was great, our waiter found out we were from the Seattle and started bring out little complimentary dishes for us to try! He said he get’s people from all over, but not from Seattle, so he wanted to treat us – which was so kind and we had an amazing experience trying the different Italian cuisines! As we went into the night we had a very relaxing time sipping wine on the rooftop, talking about life, and just enjoying each others company.
The next morning we woke up late and went to get our caffeine fix at a local coffee shop! I had a lovely little cappuccino and Brady had an americano paired with croissants! Sadly we had to catch a plane, so we went back to the hotel to pack up our things before we left for Greece!
We loved Italy so much that we decided we needed to go back the second we got the chance! Luckily we are planning an 8 day trip to Italy, as we speak! Stay tuned for all the amazing adventures to come!
