Cordially K Lifestyle

Goodbye Seattle. Hello…

Hello everyone, I’m sure you’ve wondered why blog posts have been a little slower on Cordially K the last couple of weeks and by the title, I think you know where I’m going with this – we’re moving! Yep, you read that right. It’s been so hard not to share this secret with you, but  we wanted to make sure we knew everything and told all our closest family members and friends before word got out. I got quite a few guesses from readers, from Chicago to LA, Dallas, and Vancouver B.C., and a few more. While all those cities sound spectacular, we’re actually going a bit more inland and upward to….

Drum roll please…Denver, Colorado! While some are like “wooo!” I’m sure some of you are like, “wait..what?!” Since we’ve found out I’ve gone through the emotions. I’ve been excited, unsure, excited, cried, then in love and beyond excited. Believe me, but let me tell you a little more.

We both ADORE Seattle. Brady and I moved here after college and we have loved every second we’ve spent in Seattle. We love the grey clouds and the smell of the rain, the church we call home, our Friday morning lattes, taking the dogs to Marymoor on sundays, the friends I’ve made blogging, the amazing restaurants, and the opportunity that surrounds you in this city.  With that being said – we’ve always known that someday we will always come back, so why not take an adventure in life and move somewhere neither of us have ever gone before?

My husband works for a company with offices literally, all over the world – so when he was ready for that next level in his career, we decided we would go wherever god calls us to go within our choice, so we sat down and  made a list of cities that we were happy to move to.

You see, after we made a list, we got so excited about the next adventure that we were trying to push everything, we would get one thought of a new city in our minds and immediately we were planning our entire lives in those cities, the definition of jumping the gun. It was like god was testing our patience, finally when the Denver position did open, we paused and didn’t jump on it.

Denver wasn’t on our original list. A team wasn’t actually there to get promoted to, so we didn’t even think about it. We’d never been to Denver, really heard too much about it, and it wasn’t by the ocean, so we didn’t really pay too much mind to the idea. But over the next few weeks, people we were around would casually bring up how amazing Denver was, the sunshine, the people, just everything about it. It was like god was trying to nudge us in that direction, so it got us talking about the idea.

After a conversation with Brady, I could tell how passionate he was about this position, he was beyond ready for that next step. However, he wanted to respect the list we made together and he wasn’t willing to have me move anywhere I didn’t want to go. Anyways, he wanted me to feel comfortable with going, without his influence. Such a gentleman like that. But you know, I love an adventure and him, so I would have gone to the moon if he really wanted. Unfortunately, they only have offices on this world, not others and/or moons!

Since that conversation, doors have just been opening and we’re starting to understand just how much we need to trust in god’s plan. We don’t have control over everything that happens in our lives, and that’s okay! It’s part of the fun and that adventure.

Over the last few months we were tested in our faith. At first when the doors were closing, we were so confused and frustrated – “Why isn’t life going my way and how can I make it go my way?” When it hit us that we cannot have full control over our entire lives, we decided we would celebrate every closing door (weird, right?), but when you come to terms with the opportunity you didn’t get and realize that it’s all apart of a bigger plan, than every low and high is worth celebration. We continually reminded ourselves that whatever is in his plan, will happen and it’s greater than any plan we could create for ourselves.

Once we wrapped our minds and hearts around that concept, doors have been opening left and right and all of a sudden, it makes sense as to why we didn’t get the city we originally hoped for. Now that we are moving to Denver, we can sit back and see all the reasons why this is the perfect move for us and it’s crazy to think about what we would miss out on if we had gone to another city.

Whether you have faith or not, just relax in midst of life. Do what you can, make the best of your life and your opportunities and don’t spend time dwelling or questioning your life. It will all work out the way it’s supposed to.

We are so excited for this next adventure in our lives! Thank you so so much for all of your guys’ support through this time! I loved reading all of your guesses and now finally sharing this with you is so exciting! If you’re in Denver, from Denver or have spent time in Denver please do share your favorite spots with me! I’m so excited for the move and I cannot wait to share this next move with you all!

Welcome to Denver! I moved here with my boyfriend just last year from Los Angeles, and it was such a huge change. If you enjoy nature and beer it’s a great city though! There are some cool independent fashion boutiques in Highlands and Berkeley, but be warned, there’s not even a Zara here lol.
